Sparkle in Every Moment

We strive to bring an extra sparkle to the world by crafting fine jewellery crafted using laboratory-grown moissanite. Within our brand name, we’ve embedded the words “de Moi”.

Read on to see how and why this reflects our core values and our story.

Our Story

See how our passion, commitment to quality and to improving our planet are the powerful core values that we distil into unique and contemporary elegance. One that defines luxury by style, not by price.

What Matters To Us

The passion for our craft is clear in everything we do, every item we create and every story that our jewellery tells.

The pieces we create have meaning. Our unique designs are born not from our hands but our hearts.

Coeur de Moi

Meaning “Heart Of Mine” – A fitting phrase that encompasses both our passion and what our products represent. It means “those who have our hearts” – The love we have for our partners, our parents, our siblings, our friends and (not forgetting) ourselves. At De Moissa, we’re passionate about giving you access to fine jewellery that can achieve all of the above while helping accent your looks, define your style and help you look good and feel ready and confident.

We believe that luxury should be defined by style, not price.

All of our pieces are carefully crafted from real precious metals (a minimum of 14k gold). This ensures they are functional yet valuable. In addition to this, we refuse to use low-grade diamonds.  We carefully select only the finest graded Moissanite in our gemstones.

Our master goldsmiths have a combined 70 years of knowledge and experience in creating the finest handmade jewellery. They are highly skilled in their craft and have created a unique and enticing collection that simply can’t be found anywhere else. They have ensured that every creation sparkles and is in a class of its own.

In addition to our knowledge, experience and attention to every minute detail we also ensure that every piece of moissanite comes with a certification as a testament to its quality.

What does all this mean for you?

Using Science to Enjoy beauty and Care for our environment

Monde de Moi

Diamond among coal

Monde De Moi translates from French as “World Of Mine”. We have but one planet and must show responsibility in caring for it.

It’s no secret that the diamond industry is plagued by a number of issues, from forced labour to environmental damage caused by over mining.

In recent years, there has been increasing public scrutiny of the diamond industry, and numerous scandals have come to light. For instance, it is estimated that approximately 15% of diamonds are mined using forced labour, and many diamond mines are located in areas of conflict where human rights abuses are rampant.

Furthermore, diamond mining is extremely damaging to the environment, as it involves clearing large tracts of land and can pollute nearby waterways. As a result of these problems, many consumers are choosing to avoid buying diamonds altogether.

This is a problem that we at De Moissa are accutely aware of and one of the primary reasons we exist. With the technology we have available, there is no longer a need to destroy land and lives. We use science to provide a solution that benefits everyone.

We hope that by encouraging a love for Moissanites and demonstrating their beauty, quality and versatility, we can play our part in creating a greener planet for future generations. A world that allows us to enjoy the luxuries life has to offer, but also care for our environment.

Every time you wear a piece of De Moissa fine jewellery, you are also wearing a symbol of hope for a brighter future.

Discover Moissanite

Moissanite Origins

Henri Moissan

Creating beauty without destroying nature

Moissanite has the same optical properties as diamonds but is harder than cubic zirconia and almost as hard as diamonds. It is also more brilliant than any other type of gemstone. Moissanite is created from a crystalline form of silicon carbide by exposing it to extremely high heat and pressure. Originally, this would have occurred in space and it would (quite literally) be born from the stars themselves. Today, we are able to produce it in an environmentally friendly way that doesn’t involve mining.

Moissanite was originally discovered in 1893 by French chemist Henri Moissan, who named the gem after himself. Moissanite has become increasingly popular as a sustainable alternative to diamonds, and many brides are choosing this gorgeous stone over more traditional options.

While moissanite may be a newer gemstone than diamonds or other precious stones, its properties make it an ideal choice for jewellery. Moissanite is incredibly durable, with a hardness rating that exceeds that of cubic zirconia. It also has superior fire, brilliance, and lustre compared to diamonds and other gems. And unlike mined diamonds, moissanite is a conflict-free and environmentally-friendly option, since it can be created in a lab without damaging the planet. Whether you are looking for an engagement ring, wedding band, or any other piece of jewellery, moissanite is a stunning and affordable choice that will last a lifetime.

Although Moissanite is now lab-grown, it still varies in quality.

Gems are graded in color from D to K with D being the finest  grade and therefore colorless. Clarity is graded from Fl to L3 with Fl being flawless and l3 having notable flaws.

At De Moissa we only use D graded color (the finest available) and VVS clarity (meaning very very slight flaws). Flaws of this nature are unnoticeable to the naked eye and are among the finest used in jewellery.

GeM Cut

Gem Cut and Set

Creating the finest jewellery may start with the quality of components used, but the cut of the gem is also extremely important. This has to be carefully considered for each piece we create.

The right cut can enhance a gem’s appearance by bringing out its best features and hiding any flaws. It also allows the gem to be set in jewelry in a way that makes it look its best. For example, a round diamond is the most popular cut because it has the perfect combination of brilliance, fire and scintillation.

Knowing which cut is best for each gem can help you get the best finish and ensure that your piece looks beautiful every time you wear it. Taking the time to choose a high-quality cut will greatly improve its appearance over time and help it become a treasured heirloom that can be enjoyed by future generations.

We use a Hearts and Arrows round-cut for our Moissanite. Because of their exact angles and symmetry, they show a hearts-and-arrows pattern when viewed through a special tool. Arrows are visible from the top of the diamond, and hearts are visible when the diamond is face-down.

For you, the choice is as clear as our Moissanite. Our jewelry is produced to the highest standards, with attention to every detail. We’re here to show the world that fine jewelry can be produced ethically and sustainably. Will you support this movement and become part of our journey?
